Sounds like my problem too, although I have a different variety.

Hope if anyone gives me a solution, it will work for you two. My plants are only on their second year.

you can read there.Not knowing which part of the country your in will have a big effect on when to divide any plant.
But if no signs of life after several weeks it sounds like it is gone.

My sick looking Snow Hill Meadow Sage are planted in Southern Minnesota. I dug one healthy one up, divided it, cut off the tops and the bottom remains green---hopefully these will grow- the one that turned brown--looked completely dead so I yanked it out---not sure why it died. --Thanks
