Could it be Salvia farinacea? Mine here in cold Victoria acts as a perennial, though, and you being in Queensland I would think it the same, even if it is short lived. My coccineas have been flowering for nearly two years now and they're supposed to be annuals, too.
Sorry, I never took a pic of mine but it's easy enough to find pics on the web.

No it is not the farinacea or a coccinea the flower size is half the size of the farinacea > I am going to take a photo and post it in the next few days maybe that might help alot.

Then, it could be Salvia reflexa if is really ordinary.

I'm thinking too that it could be reflexa. I had several that bloomed while the plants were pretty small with tiny flowers. But could it be stenophylla? And does anybody know how big the flowers of nilotica are? Nilotica has pretty leaves.

I just looked up images of glechmofolia, stenophylla, reflexa and nilotica. It is none of the above.The leaves look like a mexicana it has a bud on it with these tiny blue flowers coming out of the bud. The plant is about 30cm high. Keep throwing names at me and I will keep checking. Thx for everyones help.

I think I have solved the mystery it is Salvia Rhyacophila.
