LOL..that is funny. I think you may be on to something. I have also heard that when you strike cuttings, it helps to put more than one in the pot. Maybe they really DO need a pal.

I don't remember what vegetables they were, but I have read somewhere that certain vegetables that grow better when planted near each other, while others hate being in proximity. It is a very interesting idea that sans (and hopefully the gasteria gets something out of the partnership, too) could benefit this way.

The sansevieria initiated its growth well before it actually happened. The gasteria is just a coincidence. Did you fertilize it a while back? That and regular watering is what usually inspires sansevierias to grow.

It had been in the same pot for 18 months and only watered regularly. I have other types of sans, but it's never taken this long to root anything, even watching cactus grow from seed is faster.

How often do you water and how often do you fertilize? I always thought that the all sans varieties really preferred to be on the dry side. Have had my cylinder for a year and it has produced two new leaves (tho'it seems funny to call those things leaves) I use MiracleGro every few weeks. Is that OK? Thanks
