That seems like a very good way to store them.
Although our operation is on a much larger scale, the idea of cool, airtight is still the same.
We have a 10x20 temperature controlled cold room. It stays around 50-55 at all times. I like to store them in airtight glass jars.
Canning jars work great for this.

Just be careful to let the seeds dry some before packaging into plastic baggies especially larger seeds. Many seeds look dry, but need extra time to become dry all the way. I inadvertently killed some seeds once by packing in a plastic container too quickly.
There are articles to be found on using silica pkts. to take care of the drying process quickly. I do it the slow way on paper plates or pieces of paper with turned up edges. I leave them sitting out on a shelf for at least a week.

I have a question....my fridge sometimes tends to freeze items a bit - I am guessing this would kill the seeds. Any other way besides refrigeration?

Every house has a cold spot somewhere. Just find that spot that doesn't freeze in winter, like a back room closet.
Just make sure the temps stay consistent. Also make sure it's dry. Store with some desiccant. You should be fine.
Others may disagree on the freezing part, particularly if they're dry. But I never freeze my seeds.

The top shelf of my fridge freezes sometimes, so I just make sure to put them in the bottom of the fridge. I think I'm going to use one of the crisper drawers this year. Anyone know any reason why I shouldn't?

Here's another side to it - what type of storage containers do you use? I've been using a plastic box with envelopes labeled with A, B, C etc, for flowers, then also envies for herbs, vines, ornamentals, veggies etc.
