Lions Tails are cool. Last spring a friend dropped by with a dozen Leonotis nepetefolia seedlings (spelling uncertain) in a small pot. They have now grown 10 feet tall and have been in bloom since about the 3rd week in June - best of all they receive constant hummingbird traffic.

Too bad that garden is closer to you, those gardeners are probably people worth getting to know.

I often wonder if the Leonotis flowers affect the hummingbirds at all? Leonotis leonurus (aka dagga weed or wild dasgga) flowers have been smoked for millenia in Africa or a mild buzz. I have one next to a pineapple sage and it's a hummingbird party there in certain seasons, like now.
