I have never grown Blue Bedder, but I've learned 2 things... one is, a floppy plant USUALLY indicates a lack of sun... and the second thing is that my salvias on their first year are usually a lot more wild and crazy, the second year they seem to come back more full and organized. :o) I can't say if that's your problem though.

Besides not enough sun, it might also be too much water. My S. farinacea 'Rhea' gets deep weekly water, and it's fine, however, last year, I accidentally overwatered my 'Anthony Parker' all summer. It was definitely floppy and had an even greater tendency towards breakage than normal.

Thanks for both of your replies. Well, it isn't a lack of sun - since my salvias got sun all summer from 8 in the morning until about 4 in the afternoon. I did, however, notice that the ones I sowed last year are sturdier so there's hope that the floppers will be sturdier next year. Thanks- Carrie
