You should have good luck with both the leaves (if they are still firm) and the base. Unpot the base....remove any rotten/mushy portions, and repot the firm base in good, fresh, well draining soil. Keep warm, if possible, and keep only lightly watered. Same with the leaves......make a clean cut above the mushy portion in nice, firm tissue. Let the cut heal for a day or so and then insert into fresh, clean, well-draining soil. Keep warm and water only occasionally. With luck you will eventually see new growth!

woodnative is right. those Masoniana should root. i accidentally pulled off two Masoniana leaves a few months ago. i let them dry for a few days and repotted them. the leaves are still firm and are tight in their pots. just make sure all rotted portions are cut off and they leaves have a chance to callous.

This time of the year only put in damp soil after they callus. There is not rush to do this, do exactly as the others tell you. Keep dryer then you do in the summer, and if you have an inside water heater set on top of that, this will depend on the size of pot that you use, but use the smallest pot it will fit into. These are not hard to root but may take a while because they are so thick. In July and August they will root down in two weeks. Don't take the rhizome out of the soil. It may return all by it's self, but do not water until April 1 or sooner if growing in the house. (not below 55F) It must be kept warm and still have a source of light. The new leaves will go toward the light. It will be okay in greenhouse, but do not water unless you can keep the heater higher all through the night. Norma
