If you are going to winter over a plant that is marginally
hardy. I would dig a hole in the ground(after putting it in a larger pot ) on the south of your home.Firm the soil around the pot and do the leaves w
a plastic bag over it. This way the soil will help keep the plant warmer. Option b keep your plant indoors were
it will be warm enough to winter over until you have a more establish plant.then go back to plan A for next winter. I would still move it into a larger container in either case that will give the roots extra protection.
The ground freezing would be the biggest problem to
overcome.

That is not a bad course of action Art. Once or twice I have had hardier greggii survive the winter in pots when they were forgotten. Now I wish I remembered which cultivar. I have never been very good at growing greggii in pots, don't have the touch. If I couldn't grow them in the ground year round I'd save small cuttings rather a large plant.
Lois, do you know the cultivar you are growing. Greggii hardiness is highly variable.
