The seeds on the purple millet are highly visable, running up and down the flower stalk in rows. If you have had this one planted since early summer, it may be that the birds have come by for a snack. I always lose the seed to birds when I plant them in the garden bed, but I make sure I put a few in the centers of my barrels on the deck to harvest seed, since the birds don't get to them there.

Do the seeds look almost like little purple popcorn type kernals?

Yes, that's them! Let the stalk dry and they come off pretty easily.
