I got some clematis seed given to me,Golden Harvest,and when it arrived in the mail I just put some it a small pot with ordinary potting soil and covered very lightly.That was about 2 weeks ago and 3 are up now.Not much info, but these seem pretty easy to me.I have the pot on a plant rack at a west facing window.

They take a LONG time to germinate in most cases, and they don't always come true from seed. Be patient.

I have found that they germinate more readily if you plant them as soon as they are mature. That is, plant them as soon as you harvest them. They will find the perfect time to germinate.

Many clematis do well when winter sown, you can check out that forum if you are not familiar with that technique. The yellow types such as C. tangutica usually germinate readily with no cold period required.

I winter sowed Radar Love last year with great success. I threw them in a 2 liter bottle thinking I would only get a few sprouts if any. To my delight, nearly ALL of them germinated and I was able to give away some nice sprouts in the spring and staked plants in the fall.
