I can't think of any fragrant woodland plants for a hot, dry area since all my woodland areas are cool and fairly moist. But I did want to offer you my condolences on the loss of your pet. It's always hard to lose a member of the family.

These Hostas are fragrant...Regal Splendor, Fragrant Bouquet (probably the best). What about Annabelle Hydranga, it is for dry shade and smells..great. Someone had a large lilly that was white and it was very fragrant. THere are other Hostas that are fragrant as well as other shade plants.

You know, I meant to say that Royal Standard was fragrant. Maybe Regal Splendor is too, but I am not sure.

Hi, when I lost my pug in 2003 my heart and sole was also diminished along with her. Till this very moment
my husband and I are not grieving any less. Every day she walked through the garden and checked out each
and every single bloom within her reach. I learned to know what she loved as she would spend more time at
certain plants so that is what we has decided to plant for her.

Daphne is fragrant, spring blooming and there are varigated types that have attractive foliage.

Fragrant or not, maybe you could plant one of the dog's favorite plants, if he had any? Think of it this way, dogs have a better developed sense of smell than we do, and even if it's not fragrant to us, it might be to them. Treasure your memories, they last forever.
