hi there

i got a gorgeous bleeding heart at summerwinds but now it's lost almost all its flowers. it's in a pot on a shady balcony. i water it when the top of the soil feels dry. which hasn't been in a while ;) i haven't fertilized it.

Not sure about the bloom time for bleeding hearts in your area, but for me it's about a month or so. Eventually the foliage on mine (except the fern leaf kinds) shrinks back for the season too, so I always plant next to hosta to cover the dying foliage for the rest of the season. Sometimes though, they rebloom in the fall....

Dicentra spectabilis only blooms about a month annually and goes dormant in summer.

Dicentra eximia and formosa and their hybrids can bloom for months and stay green all summer.
