plants between flagstones, shade loving

flutterbyes

Hi, I hope someone can help. The gate to my backyard opens to a walkway/path that runs along the side of a very low (almost ground level)deck. I have some evergreen shrubs and hostas planted there, but the path curves and looks nice with some slate flagstones leading the way to the grassy yard area. My question is that what plant/creeper could I plant between the pavers to fill it in? I tried flowering thyme, but no luck. Area gets east morning sun, a bit of late afternoon sun as well, so plants need to be shade tolerant. Any suggestions? Also, my dog doesn't exactly walk on the flagstones, so it needs to be a little tough. Thanks, would appreciate any ideas
