Aucuba turning lighter

Has anyone ever experienced a "lightening" effect after transplanting aucuba japonica? I only noticed it because I moved another one (I moved two a year ago) and it's much darker than the others, which are now more of a lime green. Is the lime green color an indication of something gone wrong? Thanks!
