Check the Antique Rose and Rose forums. Most posters there do not like Michaels.

Check also with www.gardenwatchdog.com which rates companies by consumer feedback.

Actually I had good luck with my order of "Heritage" & "Mary Rose" from Michael's. I ordered mine about 2 years ago. As I recall, I ordered them in Jan. They were somewhat late in shipping them, and I received them around April. I was somewhat disappointed that they were small, but they were grown on their own root stock. They were slow the first year and then took off. Now I have large plants and beautiful blossoms. (In fact I still have a few blooming in Nov here in Calif zone 9!)

They're located in South Sacramento, Ca. Went in person a few years ago. They had two hoop houses full of healthy and some unhealthy roses. I found a few healthy ones to take home, gave the owner cash, waited almost 20 min and he never came out with the change. I was the only customer there. Odd. He was pleasant though. I heard from two other nurseries that used to order from them that don't now, complain about customer service on their accounts.

i am a former employer of michaels roses. he is an evil selfish man who does charge poor customers when he knows he will not have the roses for up to a whole season. i know and have seen a lot of shady dealings in my 3 years here. beleive me you all would be better off spending your hard earned money elsewhere.

I went there in January, rose planting season here in Sac... they hadn't answered any emails after I tried to order a rose...They have expanded, but when I asked for a certain rose was told they'd be out of stock until May...I was amazed...told them that they needed to put that in their website and to answer emails... I saw some teenagers working there, probably not the most responsible group.
