I love Tiarellas Wherryl! WHen I walk through the garden the leaves are a nice velvet texture and look like a small gral=pe leaf. ALso, this is the only species (I am told) that does not spread itself everywhere. The flowers are a nice light pink to cream. I have one plant that in the middle of summer still has blooms! The others have finished but the dry stalks look nice as well.

I got mine from Bluestone Perenials and I am pleased.

Terra Nova Nurseries(wholesale) list 19 different varieties of Tiarella's. You can get some idea of the available flowers and leaf size/patterns from their website. Many of these are stocked by local and online nurseries. There are also other varieties available. The Tiarella cordifolia, var. collina(Syn: T. wherryi) is a clumper, T.c., var. cordifolia(Syn: T. macrophylla) is a spreader. They both require shade/part shade in a moisture retentive soil. In my Zone and yours, they are a herbaceous perennial.

I have several varieties and love them all. Toadflax Nursery in South Glens Falls has several kinds.

Spreaders are nice 'cause then you can divide them and give some away or trade them or plant them in other areas. Even the spreading tiarellas are not thugs for me.
