Why are you even thinking of cutting them? What other trees and shrubs do you have on your lot?

I am going to clean up the brush between house and street and start planting perennials a little at a time so when I get rid of the brush, I was wondering whether I should get rid of these also. Since this will be my first year here and I have never had these shrubs / trees I don't know how good or bad they may be.
To answer your question again, I would cut them when I clean the brush in a few weeks, unless they are colorfull, produce good flowers, etc. and right now I don't see anything unusual but this is why I am asking as I am not familiar with either of them.
