Full sun is 6 or more hours of unobstructed sunlight, full shade is no direct sunlight - most gardens fall somewhere in between. Depending on what is creating your shade, most plants preferring part to full shade should do well for you. Late afternoon sun can be hot but is not as intense as midday sun. As long as shade lovers receive sufficient irrigation, they should do well in this situation.

Plants for part shade should do well. Plants for full sun may do well depending on how much light they get from morning unto 4 pm. Filtered sunlight, light from the sky overhead could well tip the balance. Plants for full shade might, as the previuous post suggested, need extra moisture. Experiment!
