Heuchera - rooting leaves in water

I took a few leaves from a heuchera plant months ago to add foliage to a little vase arrangement. Everything wilted and was discarded after a week, except for the heuchera leaves. I kept them in the vase on my desk at work because they were still fresh and attractive, and after a while I kept them as an experiment to see just how long they would last.

Well... indefinitely, apparently. I've even lost track of how long ago I cut them, but I think it was in July or August. (I haven't changed the water, either, which has stayed clear and odor-free.)

Today, I looked closely and noticed that one had developed a considerable system of roots in the water! Not long, runaway roots like a neglected coleus, but a structured, branching system. I put it in some soil. The experiment continues!
