My Rugosa, Keith's Delight

This is Keith's Delight, I was under the impression from the info I found that it was only going to be 6' tall. I was winding down the canes on the left side when I realized both the trellis I had it on would be way too small and that this spot is not enough sun and the rose was staying too wet here. In Aug when it hit the 100's I simply gave up knowing I was going to have to move this and just let it grow. This rose was a year old last month even with not enough sun it did pretty well, I have to get it moved today or tomorrow, the leaves are turning. I thought I'd share my pleasure with it with you.

You're welcome Karen, this is an easy, fast rose to grow, I was amazed at how quickly it grew with only 4 hours of sun a day. It's now located in a full sun spot with a lot more room to spread out and that should generate more energy.
It looks a little odd because it was growing around a different trellis, this is it's new home.

Thanks Beth, the colors fade out quite a bit in the 100's but most of the roses do. It more than makes up for it all the other months. I got this with the intention for a climber all along, the height is what surprised me.

Thank you Devon, I'm waiting for my grandgirl to arrive after school to go with me to get some soil to do this. Even the leaves have thorns on this rose. I'm not sure how much I can unwind from the trellis or if I'll have to cut it off, the leaves stick to each other and me. I've been dreading doing this but I can't put it off any longer. I wanted a pic because it may not look like this after today until next year.

Leslie, thanks so much for sharing these beautiful pictures. My son's name is Keith, and I've always wanted to have a rose in his honor in the garden. (I've got my daughter's rose (Kristin) and my granddaughter's roses, but couldn't find a 'Keith'. Guess I better look that beauty up!

Thanks Brandy, I thought it would be a good spot. No one will live on the right side, it's a ponding basin no one will ever mind if that rose spills energetically up and over anywhere. My neighbor on the left is gardening along her fences and isn't doing anything in her corner and doesn't mind it coming that way.
