I've killed a couple, which is kind of sad because they grow naturally around here along some of the roadsides. My guess is that it was too much water, but I was pretty careful with the second one, and I do have fairly sandy soil. But you get hotter down there and I would imagine you'll have to water them some. Maybe you want to vary the distance or the volume on the emitters, and see how they do comparitively. Good luck.
