Growing Yucca

I'm new to growing yucca even though I have had some growing for a number of years I'm just now starting to pay attention to it as a landscape plant. After the bloom drops off should the stem be removed-when? I've noticed that the plant that bloomed last year doesn't look as vibrant as the new plant, should last year's plant be removed-when? How about all the young plants that come up around the main plant, should they be left or removed?

Removal the stem depends if you want seeds or not. If you want seeds, do not remove the stem, it will produce pods inwhich the seeds are contained. If you do not want seeds, remove the stem anytime after the flowers have bloomed. Be sure to cut the stem as close to the gound as possible.

I cut off the center tall thing in the fall and even now its still a dead brown stem. All the other yuccas are growing the large bloom stem. Did I kill the bloom stem? The rest of the yucca is fine.

I pulled a Yucca out of the ground on the side of the road and now would like to plant in my backyard. What would be the best way to start a new root and is it all sun or part shade?
