No, but I've heard alot of good things in the lawn forum about an organic product called 'nitron'. It is supposed to break up and aerify clay soil very effectively.

I just wandered over to this board. If you haven't finished by now, try looking into "expanded shale" (google it) there are some studies done by texas AMU and it seems a legit and permanent solution to clay. You might have to order it I'm not sure where it's available. I feel for you, I almost cried today when I tried to start a
"new" bed in a previously landscaped area and I realized how bad the soil and drainage is.

I second the expanded shale. I've used lots of compost, etc., but nothing has helped as much as quickly as the expanded shale. I'm really sold on it now.

Thank you all for your responses to my cry for help. No the garden is not all ready done. Not exactly young and doing it all on my own. Have been preparing by putting down ground cloth and straw in between where rows will go, and revamping my tape and drip watering system. Haven't had a chance to check into the expanded shale, and nitron, but you can bet I sure will. Did you just til it in or what? I have put down the arerify and activator, but have not been able to water it in as much as they tell you to, being on a well in the dry desert. It seems to have helped in the one row I have been watering. After pulling out the bean etc that were there, was able to dig up by hand to get ready for planting garlic, shallots, kale and lettuce for fall. So may worms was glad I did by hand, used my new broad fork (what a wonderful tool) and was able to go deeper than my little matis does. Not perfect, but so much better than it was.
