For the blog? It's not really 'ready for prime time' yet. It's mostly just a collection of posts that I put on GW over the last year or so and I'm hoping to continue it from there.

I put the link, but just be gentle with me until I get my feet wet.

I'm on spring break this week and I've already fetched and unloaded two yards of compost. I was sitting here this afternoon trying to think of anything to do in order to avoid grading research essays so I made a blog.

Bowing to peer pressure, I suppose.

Since everyone seems to be posting links to their gardening blogs, here's mine. It's about eating local in general, not just gardening, but I expect to have lots of gardening posts in there if the weather ever warms up.

I had a Blogspot blog at one time, but I prefer Wordpress.

Ok, I think I have everybody updated now!

Does anyone else have trouble with spacing on Blogspot? Sometimes a double space is no space, single space, or triple spaced. Sometimes it's actually double. Drives me a bit crazy. I figured out how to delete them in the html view.

Greenbean, it drove me nuts too, until I learned to use the html view to write most of my blog. It does help to go to your Blogger Dashboard and click on Settings. Under the Formatting tab, scroll down to "Enable float alignment" and choose "No".

EG, I had that problem as well. I just loaded the pictures at once and then highlited and moved my text where I wanted it. It's irritating, but doable.

How did you survive the freeze?

Man, Wordpress is so much easier. My only problem is they broke spellcheck a while ago and have never fixed it. Boy could I use it too, hehe.

EG, we seemed to make it through okay. The plants in the garage and basement did well, but the toms in the basement got real leggy looking for light. The straw REALLY saved everything. Now, I have sunburn to contend with. I didn't think that uncovering them after two days would be so much of a problem. Should have thought about it. If the plants heal from that, I didn't loose a thing! not even my peppers or tomatoes outside. I posted pictures on that blog thing.

sinfonian, I am with you on WP. If you get your own domain, the themes, plug ins and widgets are endless.

EG, the photos all go to the top. A little trick...I upload them backwards ie; photo #4, #3, #2 then #1, and do my photos first, then in the "compose" mode I add my text before/between/after the pictures. If you upload them in order (#1, #2, #3 then #4), they are all backwards on the blog. In compose, you can also specify italics, bold, colors, text size, etc that you can't do in html mode. However, I sometimes have to edit it in html, as my line spacings aren't always as they should be. It's a pain in the beginning, but easier the longer one uses it.

With Blogger, I can't get the "upload photo from the web" feature to work. I enter the URL, it looks to be working, says "Done", but no picture.

Luke, even when I get that to work the photos aren't sized correctly, so I upload all of mine from my computer. Once you have uploaded it, you don't even have to save it on your computer...Blogger puts them all in Picasa. I've tried to upload from Picasa, and it says there is no such file...even though I'm sitting here looking at it! I just give up and do it my way.

ribbit - sounds like you made it pretty good! The foliage on my red potato plants has turned black, but there's green growth toward the bottom. I think they'll be ok.
