Looks like a currant (Ribes sp.) to me. Doesn't look like a Texas native variety to me however. You should clip a branch just BEFORE you travel over to a Master Gardener ID workshop (Q&A). Or a local nursery expert may know.

Currants are my favorite fruit. To warm and low of altitude to grow them here however. Great flavor but with few exceptions not a fresh eating; jams, jellies, baked goods, candies, seasoning meats, I've always want ted to make currant ice cream. Wine?
