Vertical Growin in the SFG

I haven't gardened since I was a little girl helping my parents or grandparents in their gardens. I am planning to do square foot gardening, but I am generally confused about vertical growing in a SFG. I have seedlings for zucchini, yellow summer squash, butternut squash, cantaloupe, and watermelon. It is my intention to grow all of these vertically. I am hopeful that some of you can share your experience with me on growing these. I'd like advice on how many of my seedlings I should actually plant in the garden. Do I plant these in "hills"? If so, how many plants per hill? Will three or four hills of each be enough for a family of four, or is that too much? What are some good suggestions for supporting these? Thanks. I appreciate any help or advice you can offer me.
