Hi! We just finished two 4x4 gardens out of vinyl fencing (like on the cover of Mel's book). They look great and were easy to make. I then made the grid from an old mini-blind we had and a little warning bell went off in the back of my head.

Do you remember how mini-blinds were recalled in the mid-90's because of lead? Do you think the vinyl fence boards have lead? Our mini-blinds date from 1998, would they be safe? I'd hate to try to feed our family organically and give them all lead poisoning!

Any ideas? I got rid of our cedar raised bed because we have to have the garden inches from our house and there were very large ants nesting there (carpenter ants? Yikes!) I thought vinyl fencing would be the perfect solution, but now I'm not so sure...
