Conduit is expensive where you are? 1/2" electrical conduit is $1.76 for a 10-ft piece at my local Home Depot. The elbows aren't real cheap (about $2.76/ea at the same HD), but still less than $10 for a typical trellis.

The word "trellis" catches my eye every time....If you already have landscaping timbers, I'd use them. If not, like Luke said - the EMT 1/2" conduit is really cheap. Trellis construction material is irrelevant, just make sure you build one, because you're gonna love growing things vertically! Woo Hoo!

Yeah, however you do it, just do it. I went really cheap using left over 2x4s bolted to my raised beds.

Thanks for the info on the conduit. My SO had checked it out, and evidently looked at the wrong thing, I wasn't sure what to tell him to look for. Anyway, we were at Home Depot tonight, and I checked it out. With the elbows, I was still looking at $13 each, I read on another thread that someone used PVC elbows, which brings the cost down to $5.50. Now that's doable! I'm making 6!!!

My son and his wife came over this afternoon and finished putting in the divider boards in the ground for me. I'm re-vamping a 6x30 or 40 foot space along the back of my house. It's already walled in on the outside, I put in boards to section it out, with 2 ft walkways between the 4 ft planting spaces. I'm digging out the 2 ft walkways, and plan to put down straw in them.

I'm so excited, and looking forward to a bountiful harvest thanks to the many many wonderful posters on this site!! I"m learning soo much.
