My beds were slightly unlevel on one or more sides after setting them in place on top of the several layers of wetted newspaper (in place of landscaper's fabric) weed barrier and to remedy the situation and help prevent excessive draining I simply took a couple extra sections of newspaper and folder them - after wetting them - over into 4'x4' squares and shimmed up the areas that were off the ground.

Inside the bed I laid on final layer of newspaper such that it was slightly raised along the inside of the wooden beds to further prevent weeds from growing through these exposed areas and into the beds. Wish I would have taken pictures because I don't know if my explanation gives a good mental image.

Not sure whether I will actually level my new ones or not.
I leveled the two SFG I built on the front side of the garden and that took a while.
Currently, I am using two bookshelves that needed to be recycled and for me it is an experiment.
Other than aesthetics is there a benefit to leveling?
