Leveling Beds

What's the recommended procedure for leveling beds?

Mine are going on slightly sloped ground. In the past, I leveled one by raising the level of the low side with rocks and some dirt. That saved the work of digging out and leveling the subsoil, but I think it drained too fast.

I just put one bed in, and this time I dug the high side out until it was more or less level. So the frame is dug into the ground 5" or so on the one side.

I think that will fix the drainage issue, but I suppose the wood will rot out faster.

Oh well, it's always something.
