Concerned about what? They are inedible fungi breaking down organic matter; that is nothing to be concerned about.

No. Often spores are located in the compost. I got them one year that I used mushroom compost, imagine that! It typically happens when the environment is particularly wet. But they won't hurt anything. I would knock them over before they release additional spores, but other than that, nothing to worry about. :)

Dan - are they poisonous? Do I need to worry about my dog eating them? That's what I've been most worried about.

Maybe, maybe not. Since I can't see them I am unable to tell. The little parasol mushrooms are inedible and sometimes poisonous. Dogs eat/lick mushrooms.
