They'll grow through and hold on, though I started them with ties. Good luck.

One fall cleanup of trying to remove plants from the net or fencing would move me right to using a string. Snip, snip and you're done.

I am using the nylon as well. I agree with gumby about the string...the clean up will be easier, BUT I don't mind working on cleanup at the end (I will need to chop up the plants to compost them anyway!) This just means I get to cut the vines up, while they are vertical...which might be easier!

If you push your season past fall frost, you'll have a hard time covering them. I use a string and untie the top, lay them down and cover them the first 2-3 frosts in October. Much easier to cover two-three with one cloth on the ground than standing, you'll see.
