You need a lot more advice than I can give you This forum is incredibly slow lol. Have you checked some of the sites on "Vivariums" Will give you some inspiration as well as some details. I converted my 150 aquarium into a terrarium and my 75 paludarium back into aquarium due to technical problems.
There are soooo many ways to go about it don't know where to start. I think the best all around solution is the "false bottom ",thought the island system has a lot of merit. Naturally design the system around the type of animals and then the plants that fit into that. Give careful consideration to light, Again hundreds of choices
depending on what you want to grow. gary

Pretty much what im looking to do is have like my own little jungle, or forest. The 150 gallon is a custom tank and isnt as tall as i expected it to be but its long. Last night i was thinking about Using plex glass dividers in several diffrent areas of the tank but connecting some of the pools slightly so that i dont need 5 diffrent filters. Also i read around and found ways to make a waterfall and figure out how to make my running creek. its mainly just the plants im having issues with. Also with the 150 gallon not being as tall as i want it i was thinking if my 30 gallon is the same width of the tank i can cut the bottom of it out and secure it on to of 1/6th of the 150 gallon to add hieght for dwarf trees. I found a way to use vined plants to hang of the back of the tall side to by cutting a plastic cup in half and sealing it to the tank. I have lots of ideas but the problem is knowing if its a good idea or not.

Sounds like what is usually called a "river tank" Have never done this type but you can divide the tank into sections using plexi from front to back . Different pumps would make different flow rates as well varying heights would make waterfalls . Have seen several tanks done as you descibe with the 30.
One problem have never found a good solution to is keeping the water in the "streams" somehow they always run dry . Main reason i like the false bottom . I keep 12 inches of water in the entire bottom of the tank. Never a danger of the pump running dry..Gravity ALWAYS works lol.
My 150 is 18x72x 26 and is located in the shadehouse just ecently converted it frrom an aquarium. So far have not done much landscaping to it but used a false bottom with a goal of 4 inches of water . Used X foam to create a rock wall using PVC pipe to feed the waterfall.
So far the only thing I have growing in it is various cuttings just to see what works.
have tried "dwarfed trees" but found they required too much maintenenceto to keep within bounds. They are all now grown in the shadehouse using various methods but not within terrariums.
Sounds like an interesting setup you have going there.
About all you can do is experiment Every now and then some ideas actually work !!! gary

I was wandering about the false bottoms to i wanted to have an atleast 6in pool of water but with a false bottom can i do that? If so then how?

Have you checked out the "Dutch vivarium" websites?? Don't think you could improve on those setups lol. They are not only functional but works of art. Lots of details on the mechancs.
The "usual " method for false bottoms is using PVC pipe to establish the water level.
6 inches in your example. over this goes plastic grate then fiberglass window screen . This is used to hold the land areas . Obviously you can have holes in it to expose more or less water. Water pump is usually a submersible
located under this be sure to leave access so pump can be removed. How much land is required for the toads.?
Do you intend to keep fish??.
In my 75 paludarium I used 12 inches of water because the fish freaked out in shallower water lol. Obviously this took up most of the vertical space . I used driftwood on the back both above and below water level. This provided for epiphytes and semi- aquatic plants , Made no attempt to make solid land areas. Used a canister
filter to power the waterfall located under the tank. for ease of cleaning. Used sand as substrate.no media required for the epiphtes above water.
There are just so many ways to go about this .

I havent checked out the dutch vivarium sites. I went to a vivarium forum but it isnt as helpfull as id hoped. My toads like alot of water, atleast 50% of the tank. i would like to keep fish. just feeder guppies mostly. Ill check older post. Ive read a few and have gotten some good ideas. thanx. Krystopher

One of the best sites for terrarium info is "Orchid board" While it concentrates on orchids there is an entire forum on "Terrariums" Very active , loaded with all kinds of info!!
