I donÂt think I would try that. A plant tries to keep in balance the growth aboveground will control the growth belowground and visa versa. There is a variety called Porto Rican which will not vine nearly as much. I was going to try them this year in a SFG but the slips arrived in such poor condition they never recovered. The garden center replaced them with much nicer slips which were standing erect the next morning and looking for the sun. They were doing great until yesterday morning when I noticed the pesky wabbit mowed them down. All the slips are sold up here so thatÂs it for this year.
