slow growing strawberries

Hi,

This is my first year doing a SFG, and I'm a relative newbie at gardening. I have some strawberries that I started from seed indoors around the middle of March. I transplanted them into my SFG about three weeks ago, and they don't seem to be growing. Each plant only has about two very small leaves and are not even an inch tall. Is this normal for strawberries or am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be much appreciated.

are they alpine strawberries? i've only grown those once but i remember it took forever for them to mature.

Yes, I have Alexandria Alpine and also Fresca. Both are about the same size right now.

Can anyone recommend another variety that grows faster?

I started Alexandria Alpine strawberries last year from seed. I found them to be very slow growing, and I got maybe 2 berries from the 3 or 4 plants that "took".

I didn't even bother covering them with mulch over the winter, figuring these puppies would die anyway. Boy, was I wrong! They've taken off like gang-busters this year, and absolutely covered in little flowers.

I can't wait until they ripen, because those tiny gals sure pack quite a punch in flavor.
