Probably the easiest way is to send a soil sample to The University of Tennessee Soil and Forage Test Laboratory in Nashville. If you contact them, I think that they will send you a kit with instructions and a box to mail the sample back in. Also, your county extension office would probably be able to supply you with these materials necessary to send in a test sample.

I go to the phone book, look under county offices for agriculture agent, services, or extension office, get their address, stop by and pick up your packages, all the needed info will be there. I find them very prompt however there may be times of the year where they are overloaded.

While your on the internet, just look them up here....faster (at least to me) than the phone book.

Save the gas and let the soil lab mail you the kit. I wouldn't waste the time and fuel unless you live really close to your county extension office. I think they will end up mailing it to the soil lab, just like you could do directly, if you take the sample there instead of mailing it.

I found all the info. Thanks so much for your help. One more question: Which tests do I need to have done for a lawn as well as some vegetables and roses? There's a big long list, and they're all priced separately. Here's the list

Calcium
Magnesium
Zinc
Manganese
Iron
Copper
Organic Matter
Soluble Salts

Surely I don't need all of those...
