I was just wondering the same thing this morning. One of my tomato plants is about to top the trellis. I would hate to top it off because I'm not sure where the second vine will start. Also, I'm not sure it will get the sun it needs. I am having the same questions with my cucumber plants. They are all about to top the trellis and some have sent out suckers that are now climbing my corn. If I don't think of something fast, I'll have a mess on my hands! I guess that is better than not having anything grow.

What kind of tomatoes are these? I have never seen a tomato plant grow that high. I have only seen the ones that are MAYBE 4 ft high.

I let mine go over the top, back down to the ground. Or let a sucker grow. Or top it, yeah. Life is all about choices.

I would root some suckers, then use them to replace the other plants later...

It will be too hot to set fruit soon enough here in NC, don't you think? just top them off and fagedabatit. Let the plant put its energy into making the tomatoes get big and ripe. JMO
