Orchids in apothocary jars

Hi, I'm new here. I have tried to grow orchids indoors with little luck. Nov. issue of Real Simple has an article on growing single orchids in large apothocary jars. Do you think this is possible? If so are the any smaller orchids you could recommend to me? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Andee

Yes, I do it.

I put either a couple inches of soil or spaghnum mosss in the bottom of the jar and plant the orchid in that.

I use a spray bottle to water them, you want to keep the roots moist but not sitting in water and there in lies the hardest part of growing orchid in jars.
