Compost aerator

HI

The garden is humming along (have made 3 salads, and the peas are growing like gangbusters) I have my backyard compost bin, but I really need and aerator. Does anyone have a good (cheap?) source? The cheapest I've seen is 22.OO, and it didn't look very sturdy.

Slightly cheaper, IIRC, is the one from Territorial Seed, but you'll have to make your own if you want cheaper than that.

I just use a short handled, wide tine pitchfork I got for $18. It works well for me. Good luck and enjoy your garden!

Why not rent one from one of the construction equipment rental companies out there? when you need one, this way you can get the best in the market aerator and save.

I'm a little confused.

Is a lawn aerator the same as a compost aerator?

My neighbors and I went together last Fall and rented a lawn aerating machine.

For my compost pile, oddly enough, I sorta enjoy turning it with a pitchfork (my chickens like it when I turn it, too).
