I'm sorry, I forgot to say hi to everyone.I read this forum often, really enjoy it but have never ask a question.

I have found Moonvines to grow really big and heavy, and that they seed a really sturdy support to grow on. If you don't think it's strudy, then it probably will not be strong enought for your moonvine. My the end of last summer, my vine had broken the legs on my metal obelisk. So this year, I am going back to growing them on my fence.

I have also found that they are the happiest when grown in the ground. When I grow them in pots, they don't seem to be as vigorous or produce as many blooms.

From my experience...I think you're going to be surprised at how much vine is produced from ONE seed! :-) And your pot contraption may be way undersized for how much this vine is capable of growing. Plus you've got 2 seeds planted.

From just one (seed) plant--I get a humongous, multi-branching vine that grows on a trellis-type support we made from concrete reinforcing wire (we also make tomato cages from this stuff). We've used rebar (pounded into the ground) for the vertical supports to which the wire is attached. Believe me, this vine will get heavy due to the fact it grows like crazy (if it's happy--lol).

I had to limit the size due to it's location, but my trellis could be another 8ft high and easily another 8ft wide and the one vine would still cover it! I have to trim off many new branches during the summer.

I also have grown Moon Vine on a 8ft pole and it also did well.

If possible, transfer your moon vines into the ground. I usually grown mine twining up high-test fishing line---it's virtualy invisible, and easily twined around simple nails or screws, and come fall, clean-up is easy---just cut the fishing line and toss into the garbage can.

This is two plants. Started in styro foam cups then planted out in May. I used heavy duty fishing line to give them something to get up to the railing on. After that they took off on their own.

You need something strong if it's a happy plant. And never fertilize them or you won't get many blooms and a ton more vine.

They are banning this flower in oklahoma city because 2 teenagers got sick from seed. I have been planting from same seeds 15 yrs now. They are calling it a weed please help most of my family has passed away and I am the last to have this flower been in the family for at least 30 years
