Are you specifaclly looking for Crataegus phaenopyrum . You may want to consider Viburnum prunifolium , it is similar and easier to grow . I have seen so many C. p. bought from a nursery and then pulled out because it was actually another species that was not performing well in this heat and humidity . I went to house yesterday where my friend is the gardener and what was gone , the hawthornes . It must be nice to own acreage that goes for $400,000 an acre . Yes , it is on the cusp of Belle Meade . Anyways , Viburnum rufidulum would be another choice for similar traits . If your looking for the fruit , Idesia polycarpa would be cool or maybe Ilex verticillata . Growild in Fairview has a great selection of natives and for sure have 'em .
