'New Gardener' aboard

I would like to say "hi" to everyone.

I have been gathering info for my garden for a while now and I have decided it's time to get on board. I have Mel's "new" book, but can't find all the ingredients I need. So, I went to Lowes and bought several bags of "Jungle-Growth Professional Planters Mix and some "Black Kow" compost until I can get my own started.

I will send a picture of my garden when I learn how to post it.

Anyway, I love this forum.

YAY another person!!! yes, EG is pretty smart!! LOL
you'll love it here for sure!! i visit this one, soil and mulch, and organic, and winter sowing they are my most favorite forums besides the round robins!! if ya go there and get into swapping boxes of plants and such the mnf (making new friends) is an awesome group of people!! LOL but beware, no drinks around the pc!!! LOL spewing goes on!!! LOL
i have learned alot in these forums that is absolutely cool!! i'm gonna visit the container one soon, i think if we have one!! LOL ~Medo

Medo - if you visit the container forum, make sure you read the threads by tapla- that are dealing with water retention, movement - and also soil for containers. It'll completely blow the top of your head off. LOL He's reeeeeallllly smart! I was a bumbling idiot for days, after I read them.

when I get a chance I will checkout the other forums, but right now all I can do is take one at a time till I get a hang of it.
Even though gas prices and everthing is going up, (WE) gardeners sure will be safer having not only our own garden but the knowledge as well. There is nothing more pleasing than being "self-sufficient."

i just saw your pics!! they are very good!! when we build ours , i know i have to put some kind of barrier down, i have quack grass, its very bad! so the first one i built i put down plastic, and the extra runs out the side so i'm not to worried, its not mels mix, its just regular soil/gravel/some kinda mixed stuff. but the plants are ok in there so far, now i have to put some grass clippings on it, this for me is one of my "test" beds. my son and i do alot of things like this, we're like that. LOL to see how things go. what will and what won't?! but its also my flower bed. LOL ~Medo
