I just heard that we're going to have frost (in the 20's) in western TN Sat night. I'm panicing because my cucumber plants complain when it goes down to the low 50s! I just finished covering my tomatoes and peppers with clear plastic I had in the garage but I doubt it will stay in place with these winds. Luckily I hadn't taken the milk cartons I used for winter sowing to the recycling center yet. I used them to cover my cucumber plants. Now I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope everything survives...

I have winter squash up about 5" and will have to cover them tonight and tomorrow night with 2-liter bottles... supposed to be 33 here tonight...and we can expect lower, I imagine...I guess it's dogwood winter...I think we skipped redbud winter this year...or maybe I just blinked. I'm glad my 'maters and artichokes are still in containers... they will be covered tonight, too, and will wait until next week to put them out.

We have blackberry winter to go through, yet, so cold weather isn't over, yet.

I just found a neat article on protecting tomatoes from frost.Wind was so bad here last night we lost some pieces of our edging on the roof.
