Hi Nanelle, that picture is not spitder mites. SM are very, very small--1/50 of an inch!!! You need a 10x hand lens to really see them when they first start developing , later you may observe webbing on the underside of leaf and the tiny spider mites in the webbing.

Growers use potent miticides --the homeowner , insecticidal soaps and oil.

Is there any chance you have an extension office near by?? Run a few leaves over there and they will look under a microscope and tell you for sure. Best of luck--I saw your beautiful plants in the gallery so hope you get these difficult pests under control. Farkee

I always seem to forget something--I just saw your title of thread. Russet mites can be controlled with sulphur. I would ask specifically at the extension if they are russet mites or 2-spotted. Good luck!
