Possible CMV

After much debating, I finally pulled my 2 Celebrity tomatoes. The new growth was extremely curled, and when the new leaves did unfurl, they were deformed. It looked identical to pictures I have found of plants infected with CMV. They were setting fruit, and had no discoloration anywhere. I saw absolutely no insects. When I noticed that 1 of the cherry tomatoes in the next row was getting curled growth, I decided that it was possibly spreading. I also removed the one cherry that looked curled.
Anyway, if this IS CMV, is there anything I can plant in that area this year? Next year I plan on growing tomatoes in a totally different place in the yard. Will the soil remain infected?
