Worms!!!

Today I saw a bird in my SFG picking worms out of my soil. Now, this may not be any big deal to most of you, but my beds are raised 3 feet off the ground and have plywood bottoms! I have Mel's mix in there, and I know that I didn't add any worms to my beds, but this bird came back 3 times while I watched and got himself some nice juicy worms.

I'm still trying to figure out how the worms got in there. Were they in the compost I used? Did the ants carry worm larvae into the raised beds? I don't know, but I consider the worms a good sign, especially nice big chubby worms like this bird was pulling up.

That's wild! Hmmmmmm... not sure how they got in there myself, but I agree that it sounds like a good sign about your soil. What a trip!

That is SO cool! I have to tell you that in the four years I've lived in my home, I have never seen a worm in our soil. What a bummer.

I don't know how they get in there, but the last time it rained pretty good here - worms were all over the top of my bed. It's a good thing to see....

The dirt/compost you used probably had worm eggs in it and they grew and matured. That is supposed to happen. Unfortunately I haven't seen any in mine either. Even the ones I transplanted there died. Not sure why. Now I bet the ants would kill them. Ah well.

Very cool, and definitely wierd that high off the ground!
