Catfacing is a physical deformity which happens when blossoms are exposed to cold temps about two weeks before the blossom opens. The result is incomplete pollination and that causes the deformity.

Physical damage to the blossoms while still in the bud stage can also do it.

It's mostly beefsteak varieties that do it and not all varieties are susceptible to it and there's nothing you can do about it if it's due to cold weather.

Fruits that form subsequesnt to the first catfaced ones when the weather is warmer will be fine.
