Go ahead and plant it now. Just plant it as soon as possible so that it has time to get somewhat established before the worst heat of summer. Dig a bowl shaped hole with at least twice the diameter (at the top of the hole) as the rootball's diameter and slightly less deep so that the top of the rootball is just barely above original soil grade. Use the original soil (soil from the hole) to backfill. Apply about 2 to 3 inches of mulch at least as far out as the dripline of the bush/tree. Using a 4-sheet layer of newspaper works great to keep weeds from sprouting up through the mulch. Keep watered well this year. Depending on the soil and environmental conditions, watering about once a week or once every week and a half should be good. You want the soil at the root level moist but not wet.
