I always say to call your local nursery, if they don't have it, ask for their supplier. Call them and check if they sell any retail. I did that and got it locally for less than half the nursery cost.

Vermiculite and Sphagnum peat do not contain any nutrients. The cost you save by not using them could pay for a very good irrigation system including the timer and automatic fertilizer injector. Assuming you do the work yourself of coarse.

I have to agree with John. I'm not investing in vermiculite, although I do invest in peat for my sandy, alkaline soil. I've grown lovely gardens for more than forty years, and never bought vermiculite. Ever. On the other hand, there are those who swear by it, so it's purely a matter of personal choice and economics.
