I have a five year old hybrid yellow columbine that started falling apart after a spectacular bloom this spring. I looked at it today and grabbed a portion that had separated and pulled. It came away at the "root". Thinking it had finally reached the end of it's life, I went ahead and broke off the rest. I still have most of the roots in the ground. What came away looks like rhizomes, pretty healty sizes. I wonder if I could plant them and get new plants started. Of course I can and will replace it, but I hate to throw anything away. Anyone with experience to advise? Thanks.
