All the chirping about twittering is beginning to make me feel like I have bird flu. Am I just getting old and grouchy, am I missing something, or is life really getting so boring that this pastime has become interesting.

It's actually a great way to get ideas. You post a question out there and you can get all kinds of great information or suggestions. I pretty much only follow folks who talk mostly on Gardening subjects. Quite a few botanical gardens twitter too.

Just trying to liven up the forums like what was requested in a previous post.

I have a facebook page, but I don't Twitter. I do enough yakking on here. :)

I'm with Brandon on this. I told the guys at work the other day that I didn't have a facebook page and they could not believe it. I see no need for it or twitter or myspace. If I have a question concerning gardening, flowers, seed collecting or just want to talk about something that's off topic I come to Garden Web. What more do you need?

My question wasn't about need. We don't need any of this really. I was just curious if anyone else from the area (TN) is using it. I'm not trying to start a debate about social messaging, just trying to be social! ;)

There's nothing inherently wrong about using Twitter or talking about it, if that's what you want to do. It's just that many of us don't see any reason to use it and are becoming a little hypersensitive to hearing about it because of the frequency it's brought up. I hear about Twitter probably an average of four or five times a day!

The negative comments you may hear aren't directed towards you! They are just a response to the overall bombardment we feel regarding the subject. Don't take any negative responses personally! We're just venting, I guess.

No offense taken! :) Twitter does seem to be everywhere right now even in Iran. When stuff gets talked about too much people start to react negatively about, that's OK. Anyway, have fun over the weekend. I'll be completely disconnected (we still have cell phones from 10 years ago so no texting, email, or internet for us) over the weekend. Going out of town toward Memphis for a wedding.

I have a myspace page, I rarely go there I didn't think it was very user friendly, but then again I am getting old. I also haven't gotten into twitter, I update my facebook page from my phone. Now facebook is another story, I am so addicted. I think it is easier to upload pictures there than here cause I can up load them directly. Now I lost my camera (and a shoe) last night at the Doobie Brothers concert so uploading is currently not an issue. Any of you tech savvy folks have a point and shoot digital camera that you would recommend to an tech moron?

Hey GardenDave, I'm following you on twitter now. I am still learning what that's all about, but now that I have something interesting there to check out, I'll figure it out. I never thought I'd like Facebook, but I like it a lot now.

I like the TN gardening forum here and have met some awesome folks at the Memphis swap. Lani is right though, this forum slows down a bit between swaps. (Full disclosure - I lurk here a few times a week and post only rarely, so I'm not doing anything to increase the forum chatter. I'll try to do better.)

Some things work for some folks and not for others, but we're all TN gardeners, so take advantage of the resources you want and leave the rest. No biggie.

I wanted to apologize for my post I made Friday. I read it this morning and have to admit the tone was not what I meant it to be. I guess I need to start using smiley faces :) What I should have said was that GW was enough for my needs. IÂm sure the other sites are good and useful, but I have little time to check out the 4 or 5 forums here on GW that I like. I, like a lot of other people would like to see this forum become more active. I admit I lurk more than I post but hopefully that will change in the future. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Twitter is a great business to business site. i actually get paid by the company I work for to Twitter! i also twitter myself but I'm not on there telling everyone what I do minute by minute. i do have a life! I only twit when I want folks to know something, answer a question if I can or if I have a question. I'm there as paperart if any of you want to follow - I'll follow you back. ; )
